Hey Hey!
The apartment is gelling. I get along well with the two roommates who are from CA. There's Jess, 23, from San Jose, works at a political non-profit (I think). then there's Kiku, 30, from Duarte (SoCal). They're really welcoming and are providing me with exactly what I was looking for - some chill friends I can relate to, veg out with, feel comfortable with. I forgot how good it is to live with girls and not worry about being completely clothed and face made up all the time.
Last weekend we were all home, all weekend. Cleaning, watching TV, cooking (I made a HUGE breakfast and some bomb enchiladas!), shopping and reorganizing.
The job is going ok. There was some drama this week but with a little help from mom and Andrew I was able to reign in the emotional reactions and remember that I'm there to work and show others what an asset I am to the office. So things cooled down. I am really thinking about getting another job though - I am surviving money wise but not saving and I'm stressed! In case I lose my job (something I really need to be aware since more and more people I know are being laid off) I need to have a reservoir of money.
So I must say - I feel pretty good about things. Rather pleased with myself. I got all my stuff together - job, apt, paying bills, going from work to home, some semblance of a social life...and so I decided to so something drastic! I'm going to start acting my age. Let loose a little. I think I worry too much and don't take the time to be young. It's part of my quest to be more patient and let things happen as they will. I need to sit back and relax for a while and be 22 while I'm still 22.
By the way - I can give virtual tours of the new apartment via WebCam. Monica liked it! My favorite part is the kitchen.
Love Love Love,
Anna
Lovely Day
Buen dia,
In Salamanca's Plaza Mayor there were tons of restaurants that kept tables set up outside year-long for the patrons. Of course these tables were lonely most of the spring semester I was there - it was too cold to eat outside. But then a random sunny day would come along and the Plaza would be booming! People everywhere filling these tables as if there weren't enough chairs to go around. Sunglasses and iced drinks and cigarettes and sun dresses and sandals. It reminded me of home.
That's what Brooklyn was like today. With snow still on the ground from last Sunday night's blizzard it reached almost 70 degrees! Suddenly every restaurant had a patio and people were wearing dresses and flip-flops and sunglasses. It was glorious. I was out of the house at 9 a.m. and on my way back from the store I passed 2 train stops so that I could soak up more of the sun. The long walk was worth it!
I spent some time out in my gated front yard with Midnight throwing the stick back and forth and I came home to a bright open house full of sunlight and fresh air.
'twas a lovely day :) and I really need to get a camera.

The Sound of Settling
Hey girl hey,
Work is crazy! We just moved, I'm so busy, the office is a mess and so chaotic! But! I love it. I really like going to work - I like my coworkers and I like what I get to do all day. People come to me throughout the day for help and advice and just to chat it up. I am now playing more of a "receptionist" role but I am the renaissance woman of the place.
There was a blizzard last night/today! It was awesome! Snow half way up my calves! Woo hoo! Boss said I could come in late - I still made it 15 mins early.
Socially - I recently participated in an Oscar Party/Potluck! I made dump cake and lazy enchiladas! (Thanks, Mom!) Although the others were wary of my dump cake, they thought it was tasty!

Also, I've begun organizing my second trivia night. Last time I created a Facebook event and in an effort to draw more participants out on a Wednesday night I might have mentioned that it was my birthday (Feb 18th). Those of my generation knew to check my profile where it states my real birthday and came anyway. Todd's friends came too. Wishing me a happy birthday. So I lie a little sometimes...Anyway, this Wednesday - Trivia Night round 2!
I'm going to try to write more often, I have so much to say sometimes. I will get a camera soon and upload more pictures. Send me some updates people. What's going on over there??? CA is like the brokest state in the union and they're gonna legalize marijuana??? I leave and the state goes to pot! (hahahahaha)
XOXO

I'm writing from my new bed in
my new room in my new apartment! I have made this little place of mine a nice, comfy, home/room and I'm happy to come home to it. I met all the roommates and they're all cool! All very different but everyone gets along.
